Growth Takes Time
Can you believe this? I sure as hell can't.
It's been an entire year since I started posting consistently again. A whole year of making art every week and sharing it with you. A whole year of dedicating the early mornings to practicing, consistency, and exploration.
When I first posted this phrase, I was stuck in my own fears and doubts that I hadn't posted in over 3 years.
I was afraid of what people would think. I didn't think I was 'good enough'. I didn't think anyone would care.
Today, we have a tight knit community, a peach gang if you will, of: my closest friends; new friends; creative friends; my family; activist friends; most importantly, you.
It's you that makes the impostor's syndrome, creative brain farts, and early morning grumpiness worth it.
Thank you for being awesome. ✨
Take Aways
Here’s a list of lessons I’ve learned through out this year, and I hope you’ll find them helpful on your journey of exploration and growth:
Eliminate distractions - Anything that isn’t contributing to your goals or helping you reach them needs to be put on hold for the time being. For me that has been video games, binge watching shows, and sleeping in. They don’t have to go away, but consider the time you’re spending on each and be smart about it.
Stay Consistent, but don’t Overwork Yourself - When you start to see progress, and you see little wins start to appear, you’ll get excited and want to do more more more! And you should, especially if it lines up with your goals! Keep in mind you’re human and you need to be able to recover to win the next day. Small wins everyday.
Remember what’s important - Yes, success and growth are amazing, and should be your focus. That also includes your family, your health, and your responsibilities. Stay balanced as to avoid toppling over to heavily to one side.
